Solar Freaking Galaxies

This art project was first created for Burning Man 2014, funded by a Kickstarter campaign + BRAF grant. They create an oasis of surreal, gigantic flowers that invites participants to explore and gather within the illuminated, unfolding petals. The flowers are truly ALIVE and aware of our presence. The energy and movement we give is returned by our surroundings: they open, light up, and make their own display of lights as we move around them. Designed by team of engineers, the concept was inspired by the Japanese art of Origami—unique forms created from a single sheet with folds and geometry. There will be 3 featured at SHSF looming above our glowing art installation boardwalk. As the petals breathe in and out, so we welcome the change of season, in the spirit of blooming in super powerful ways!

Katia Goa

I have been drawing and painting my dreams and fantasies since I was five. My family has encouraged me all the way, and I continue to put my visions in paint on canvas. Support of the loved ones, being surrounded by artists, world travel and art education have made me who I am. I’m fascinated with my work. Painting brings me peace and happiness. Each piece has a story behind it – a great weekend or emotion, a dream or a book. When I put the first lines on a blank canvas I don’t usually know what the finished piece is going to look like, going in with nothing but something to express. Hours of work and thought bring me to places I haven’t been before. The feeling of satisfaction that comes at the moment I realize the piece is almost done is incomparable. Often my art tells people stories that are different from mine. I find them fascinating and love hearing their interpretation. I want my art to make people feel a range of emotions. Art is a magic. If you looked at my painting and it brought smile on your face and you realized that your inner child is here and smiling with you, my goal achieved! Keep smiling!

My work represents the empowerment of discovering how to march confidently the psychedelic warrior. To show the true colors hidden behind the individualistic human mind. How I see you.
